It is able to use the CDP(Cisco Discovery Protocol) which is a private protocol and is only used in Cisco\'s devices such as Cisco router, Catalyst switch and so on. With CDP Monitor, You can send the information(CPU number and model, host name, user name and the windows version, service pack version) of your host to the connective Cisco device with CDP, and you can get and display the information from the connective Cisco device, such as device name, device model, port which is connecting with, administive ip address, IOS version,VTP Domain Name, and so on. With these information, you can easily know the total topology of your network and you can easily do troubleshooting.

In specailly, CDP Monitor can send the information of the host to Cisco devices. So the LAN Management Solution and the Routed WAN Management Solution of Cisco Works 2000 can get these information and show the total topology of your network in graphics mode, not only the Cisco network devices, but also your PC and host.
