HandyTree's Information
As you do genealogical research, carry all your genealogy data in your pocket for quick and easy access. Have all your "family tree" data at hand, with you at family reunions, with you all the time! *** Requires: SmartList To Go, available from http://www.dataviz.com/Transfer data from your desktop computer to the handheld before you leave home. Enter new records.Edit existing records. Make quick on-screen field sketches of cemetery locations, grave locations, tombstone appearance, anything you need to remember. Find a "needle in a haystack". Powerful search feature lets you search any or all fields for any word or phrase. Searches are (optionally) case sensitive. Sort and filter records in many different formats to make data easy to locate. Transfer new data back to your desktop computer when you get home. Print data and images as needed, either from Windows or print from the handheld using PalmPrint software. Several screen layouts and filters provided; create your own additional ones as needed. Easily track multiple branches of a family tree. Handy, easy to use tabbed layout. REQUIRES Requires: SmartList To Go, available from http://www.dataviz.com/ The SmartList To Go desktop program, which lets you work with your HandyTree data on the PC, can import data in the following formats: Microsoft Access, ODBC Data Sources, Comma delimited text file, Tab delimited text file, Semicolon delimited text file. So if you have genealogy data already stored in a desktop computer database, and if your existing PC-based software can export data in one of these formats, you can import existing records into HandyTree via the SmartList To Go desktop program, defining import rules, for instance, specifying "insert last name data into the HandyTree Surname field, insert first name data into the HandyTree Given Name field, etc.". After that, it's simple to save updated HandyTree data and install it on your handheld computer. Even if you cannot export data directly to HandyTree, you can usually highlight data in your existing desktop program, copy it to the Windows clipboard, then paste it into HandyTree in the SmartList To Go desktop program, saving a lot of typing. Free download here includes a complete on-screen interactive tutorial that gives you a good walk through the program and how it works. Download also includes a read-only demo of the actual handheld application with 11 sample records to examine. Purchase the registered version here for the fully functional product.
